Our stay was truly memorable! The hotel’s old-world charm adds unique character you won’t find elsewhere. Our room was spotless, with a super comfortable bed, and the spa in our chalet was an unexpected treat. The staff were fantastic, offering a warm welcome and excellent service throughout our stay. The breakfast spread was lovely, with lots of choices, including gluten-free options. We had dinner at the hotel both nights, and everything was delicious. Although the natural hot pools were being cleaned when we arrived, this meant they were perfectly clean for the rest of our stay. The pools were never too crowded, and the setting was stunning. We’ll definitely be back!
Can't rate rooms as we didn't stay. One bar lady was really rude to another bar lady which wasn't cool. Huge wait for food, some people were waiting over an hour as there was an event on however our chips came out quick enough and were pretty good. Would go again but will make sure the Mustang club isn't there
As a large family gathering to celebrate a birthday, we found the location to be excellent, with its lovely hot pools, although both the accommodation and pools needed some upgrading and dollars spent to meet our expectations. The biggest shortfall was the poor service at dinner with 2 staff members not turning up, and with both the restaurant being full, and a lot of locals in bar to watch the All Blacks vs Argentina it was a bit chaotic. However the meals were fabulous, and with James waiter working his butt off all night, it all turned out OK, but management should have had this scenario covered. Rooms: Very dated and need upgrade Food and drinks: Excellent dinner menu and beautifully cooked, and the Continental Breakfast was excellent
The hot springs were great and the very old hotel was fascinating. We had a lovely meal on Friday night. Our units whilst comfortable were rather in need of renovation.Rooms: 2/5
The pools are in a beautiful location. They would be stunning if they were clean and properly maintained. Even without my glasses on I could see short hairs floating in the top pool. The changing area is like a rumpty potting shed. An older lady had grazed her knee tripping on the unsafe path down. The steps into the top pool are making people lose their balance. Hopefully the pools will get some maintenance before the busy summer period. Currently they aren't safe. Safety: The pools need maintenance to be safe.
I think this hotel may be under new management, owners not really customer focused. Bed comfortable but rooms need an update grade, basin cracked tiebacks hanging out of wall. So many people crammed in to restaurant and our booked table was given away. Waited 1.5 hrs for food once ordered and when I went to discuss with owner he wasn't at all bothered. Meal was over $300 rooms $210 each and I had booked 3. Really spoilt our get together. Hot pools ok but need some love and attention. We would not return , more like a party hotel for stag nights bikers and fancy dress. Not the authentic experience we had previously read about on the reviews and certainly no feel good factor!!
Very run down, and seriously in need of refurbishment and cleaning. The accommodation is very budget, old and not a feel of clean. The service is non-existent and scarce, hardly staffed enough to run the place. The dining rooms were nice and breakfast was fair but not ideal if you are diabetic. The hot spring pools were dirty and two were empty of water. The changing room was fair but rather give it a miss, the walk down to the pools was a bit risky. All round overpriced and will certainly be looking elsewhere to spend my Wedding Anniversary next time. Though there was a lovely deer farm that was also advertised in connection to the Hotel, but on a closer look and drive around we were disappointed to find no such place, disappointed tbh
Stopped in on a week day for a swim, a beer, and a bite. Not too far for a drive from Hamilton, and a pleasant drive. The location is bush clad, the historic hotel well looked after. The pools were natural, nice and warm and small and intimate and a short path walk from the hotel through the gardens. $20 a person. I had a snack of bruschetta at the hotel. It was brilliant! Walkability: Easy walk through the gardens to the pools. $20 charge. Food and drinks: Bruschetta was perfect. Ok choice of beers.
We love this hotel and have stayed there many times as did my parents before us. However, this time we were very sad to see that the hotel is in need of some TLC. The outside, particularly roof and window frames needs painting. The room we stayed in was not up to scratch - curtains not hanging correctly, electric blanket not on the bed properly. We were greeted on arrival by a very unfriendly older gentleman who couldn't even be bothered getting out of his chair to help us and gave us no help on parking, eating etc. Fortunately the house and restaurant staff were delightful and helped us. We had dinner and breakfast and both meals were excellent. We love you Okoroire Hot Springs Hotel! Time to pull your socks up! Rooms: As above Nearby activities: Pools are in natural setting. Walkability: Long walk to pools for seniors Food and drinks: Great!
Stopped in for lunch and hot pools as we've passed the signs many times. Its a great historic lodge type hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Had the Oko burger with fries. Massive and delicious, all I need to say. Hot pools were good, natural so results may vary. 2 lower pools were nice, but tepid, Warm enough on a winter day. the top, shallower pool was hotter and was very nice. All in all, well worth a visit.
