Lovely old hotel atmosphere. Well renovated. We stayed in a chalet; very spacious, bed large and comfy, our own spa pool. Dinner at the restaurant was great...traditional kiwi pub fare. Quiet, peaceful and awesome mineral hot pools open for guests 24hrs.Rooms: 4/5
If you don't like boring motels then this place is for you. Loved the ye olde atmosphere, we had a spacious room, smallish bathroom, beautiful linen and spotless. Big verandahs for wine/nibbles before dinner, which was amazing, ditto breakfast. This is old New Zealand accommodation so don't expect perfect. Beautiful countryside with hot springs if you are into that. Excellent staff and Derek an excellent host.
Just popped in for the pools, absolutely beautiful setting. Great temperature. Stayed for 2 hrs, only intended to be there for 1. Grabbed a pizza after. Service was slow, due to COVID hitting staff. Pizza was delivered quickly but needed more topping to befit the price. Will definitely be back.Service: 3/5
Darling and quaint location, close to hobbit on, very friendly staff, good pub meals, lovely simple breakfast in the morning. Rooms are clean, comfortable and roomy. The hot springs and scenery are beautiful! Ample parking and lots to do close by. If you like history and nature you will love this spot.
Just went for the swim , 20$ per adult for the whole day is a bargain I reckon. The receptionist was so helpful and kind. Very welcoming which is something we always appreciate. I brought my mum & 7 month old baby and we loved our time here. 3 different pools with 3 different temps perfect for baby. There was other people there but didn't feel crowded or like it was packed having the three different separate pools. I do reccomend going down with your togs on as the changing room is very small and gets over crowded. I can't wait to come back for another hot soak. Such a beautiful hidden little gem out in the nature.
Beautiful building, springs were gorgeous, staff were lovely. Unfortunately despite the character of the actual building the place felt soulless. Owner appeared pretty disinterested choosing to answer his mobile over the hotel phone. Chalets were basic, hotel room was unmade, small with a musty smell. Unless booking into a hotel room with a balcony and view I wouldn’t bother.
Just a gem of a country hotel. Some of hotel restored to glory days of the 1800s when first opened. Check out the history. Motel rooms also attached to complex. Great food and well sized, great bar. Hot thermal pool for house guests, included with your stay. Golf course across road, not sure on rules of use, but 10 years in first stay there was included for a small fee. Only a few minutes from the State Highway.
Awesome dinner and loved the springs and spa in our room, only down side, fridge in room was frozen the next morning, and so was the milk, so couldn't have a coffee. Unfortunately we didn't have time to see manager about it, re having to leave early. And sorry to the cleaner, I didn't have time to tidy up the room before leaving.Rooms: 4/5
Tourists take the first entrance. Not the pub door. We could feel the locals rolling their eyes at us. Aside from that, absolutely stunning. The Thermal baths were tranquil and relaxing and raw NZ. A place every single person should visit. Beautiful golf course too. And good food.Service: 4/5
Bus load of us, thought the staff coped very well, lunch time meals. Generous portions, cold drinks on a very warm day. Accessability a little tricky for wheelchairs or rollers. May be better with more signage directing to the right entry. A few steps can made it a little difficult.Service: 5/5
