It’s a carrot, but really it’s so much more than that. It’s an icon, a sign of a town trying to mean something more. It’s a national treasure and a destination. The hub of the community, where family meets and travellers stop for a stretch. There is free fresh water that tastes better than you could buy from a bottle. I would recommend everyone stop here at least once. Way better than the L&P bottle. Worth the 5hr drive to get here.
If you are road-tripping and need a place to stop and stretch your legs this is a great option. Lots to do and see, well maintained and enjoyable activities for the young and young at heart!

What better way to say you've been to Ohakune then with a picture with the giant carrot with Mt. Ruapehu in the background. There is now a adventure park behind the carrot so the carpark has been upgraded.
An awesome kids playground area and nice walks and activities are all on offer in addition to viewing the carrot
