Beautiful old buildings, although not all original. Some refurbished / recreated from elsewhere in the district. Some interesting history inside a few of them. Not a huge area so doesn't take long to go round. Love the stonework more than anything.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
The Heritage Precinct of Cromwell town is an interesting place. It showcase the old buildings of the gold mining era. These old buildings were converted into souvenir shops and cafes. Located by the scenic lake side which is another attraction. Worth visiting.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
We went here today and rented a bike from Cromwell Heritage Precinct bike rentals. Rod the owner could not have been more helpful when contacting them about hiring a bike. He was great at corresponding by email, we turned up and the bikes were ready. He talked us through the route we were going to ride and the bikes were modern and in great condition. We cycled around the lake as far as the burger speed boats cafe and back about 24 miles in total. If you are looking for bike hire and a great service you will not be disappointed. It cost around £50 in UK money $100 ish New Zealand for the day.
If you are going to do anything in Cromwell, it has to be a walk around the Heritage Precinct. Transport yourself back in time with the beautifully maintained historic buildings from Cromwells original Town centre. Art galleries, quaint little stores and cafes will keep you busy if you are after a little retail therapy, and many ruins and foundations of various old buildings line the walkway along the river. Every Sunday there is a farmers/craft market with live music and great atmosphere. An absolute must see!
What a gorgeous place to have a walk around and a drink at any of the cafe's along the precinct. Stunning.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo wait
The Heritage Precinct is a presentable show of historical buildings, some of which were moved before the area was flooded. One of the buildings which remained where it was is the Athenian Hall which once looked so grand bit now sits low compared with current ground level. The precinct is worth seeing to appreciate New Zealand history.
Nice place for a wee walk even on a gloomy day. So much History and Beauty.
Nice place for a look through with old shops and period history displays. I visited during new years holiday time and most of the shops were shut till the 4th Jan. Close to the river with stunning views of the cliffs on the opposing side. Well kept walkway and plenty to look at. Bicycle hireage and small jet for kayaks or boats. Close by is some heritage homes and old churches in the close by streets. Well worth the stop and will revisit again.
