NZ Warbirds was originally conceived in 1978 to establish an association to restore, fly and enjoy aircraft of an historic nature with a connection to the Royal New Zealand Air Force. From our humble beginnings forty years ago, we now have a membership close to 600 with a mixture of active pilots and aviation enthusiasts all with a desire to see these aircraft fly for generations. Although our organisation was started to preserve ex-RNZAF aircraft, this has been expanded to include any type due to the successful introduction of service aircraft from all over the world including Russian, German and Chinese types."

As a warbird enthusiast, I spent three hours roaming the exhibits - and it was very cool to get up close to the aircraft, and even see half a dozen Harvards take to the air.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Another place I didn't know existed. A tour inclusion, and it was amazing. The guides knew their stuff and loved the planes. I could have spent longer than an hour here. I would love to come back on a flying day. Such history, so lovingly preserved.
So great to see the Warbirds fly - the Harvard's were especially good this year! Great venue, Ardmore.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
Had the pleasure to fly in the P51D with the experienced display pilot Graham Bethall today. A fantastic experience including some aerobatics, flying through the Hunuas, and a very informative commentary. All the while showing off the capabilities of this legendary aircraft. The whole time, including in the discussions prior to the day, I was taken care of. Well worth the money and highly recommended.
If you are into old military aircraft including ones from both world wars then worth the visit. Most areas are wheel chair friendly with the exception of the upstairs converted model display area and part museum. Staff and volunteer guides were very accommodating and knowledgeable. The airport was pretty lively on the weekend we went. Private helicopters and planes taking off quite often.

Great experience, great atmosphere. Maybe next time allow for a variety of food trucks we only had two choices for food.
Great sets of planes from first and second war. Most of them still able to fly. Amazing place to visit, family with kids friendly.
