Gynaecological cancers make up approximately 10% of all cancer cases and cancer deaths in New Zealand and is the 4th leading cause of cancer deaths in New Zealand women.
There are five main forms - ovarian, cervical, endometrial (or uterine), vaginal, and vulval.
Every year approximately 1000 women are diagnosed with 1 of the 5 and of this approximately 400 women die every year. Ovarian cancer being the highest statistic, taking the life of 1 woman every 48 hours.
