Everyone is Welcome!
The vision for Northern Community Gardens is to establish places for the community to celebrate diversity and connect with food, how to grow it and how to prepare it. It would be a place for environmental education and workshops on gardening and sustainability topics. Permaculture ethics of care for the Earth, care for the people and fair share would be observed and partnerships/relationships with community groups would be formed and developed.
The vision for the Paparangi Nursery is to establish a sustainable source of local native plants for planting by volunteer groups in north Wellington, and to educate local people in the propagation of native plants and the role of plants and planting in improving our social and natural environments.
Both Northern Community Gardens and the Paparangi Nursery groups share an enthusiasm for the social, cultural, environmental, health, educational and economic benefits associated with gardening and restoration. They will help each other to pursue their immediate gardening and restoration objectives and, in so doing, address these broader societal aims.
