took my cat in to get her checked, thought she may have been constipated as she wasn't lifting her tail as she normally would when given snuggles.found out she had been bitten on her tail by another cat go figure.we only live 400 metres up the road from the vet you can literally see the vets from the estate we live in so didn't think much about what I took with me,left my purse back at home.so after being in the vets for a total of 15minutes 10 of those waiting to be seen I was slapped with a $70 consultation fee and another $80 for medication this was actually a shock for me to be honest because there was really nothing done other than a quick look at the tail,I was lead to believe she needed this medication even though after finding she had just been bitten by another cat I was no longer concerned she was in any danger.after that at reception I explained that I would be heading home to drop my cat off sort my kids out grab my purse and return to pay,I was met with a very awkward situation where they tried to tell me I couldn't leave the premises until full payment was made,I don't know if this is normal but the manner of which it happened almost seemed illegal.after explaining again that I lived up the road didn't have a payment method on me to pay and would be back shortly I went out to my car with my cat where I was followed by reception repeating over and over again that I couldn't leave.i got in my car very bewildered by the experience and went home to get sorted.within the space of 40 minutes I was barraged with emails texts and phone calls of which I hadn't had a chance to answer threatening legal action debt collection and finally refusal to see or treat any pets we have or may have in the future if payment wasn't made within the hour.nis this really society now a bunch physcos pretending to be heroes in the aim of monetary gain with complete disregard to the animal patients there caring families and any emotional attachment or connection between them.i would seriously suggest these guys get back into the spirit of helping animals and the community instead of using people's love of there animal family members to fleece them for money and treat them both poorly.ps my cats tail was back to normal the very next day with no use of the over priced medication forced by the vet.
I didn't actually go inside as my friend was the one getting her fur baby examined. She told me they were really great and worked very hard to save her cats leg.
Amberley sent Zara out immediately when my horse got colic, she was great and helped him by giving him antispasmodic and painkiller. Explained everything very clearly to me, all my options at different outcomes of the colic, was friendly, helpful and caring..although they did send a 2nd person in another vehicle, who never introduced himself to me so not sure why he came. But when i needed a vet back 3days later they didnt have one avail in Amberley, they had 2 vets avail both an hrs travel at their Cheviot and Culverden clinics. The female vet Sarah i spoke to in culverden was terrible! Rude, unprofessional, and condescending in an emergency situation. Telling me that they dont have vets living next door to everyone, to which i hung up. Would not deal with her again, it was the 2nd time i have spoken to her and she was the same then too. VERY UNHELPFUL. The bill was fair for 45mins of vet time from Amberley and would happily ask them for Zara again to my horses, but i have a backup vet close to Rangiora organised incase Amberley doesnt have one available in an emergency, as the receptionist told me they are just a small practise.
Wonderful staff. Amazing job done on Zena with her elbow reconstruction and she is doing wonderful. The care and commitment through Zenas road to recovery was amazing. Totally worth talking to these wonderful people here. 100% all the way.
Excellent service. Fitted us in for an emergency booking. The boy is way happier. Thanks for the great service, Amberley Vets.
