This upscale Italian restaurant in the city centre was the perfect spot for a fancy dinner before we left Wellington tonight. My partner and I decided to indulge in what was touted as the best fine dining experience. The interior was warm, cozy, and luxurious, with each table illuminated by candlelight, creating a romantic ambiance. It was evident that this place was a favourite among couples of all ages.nnThis place is specializing in pasta, I ordered the spaghetti with meatballs on the staff's recommendation, while my partner chose the spaghetti with prawns. To complement our meal, we each had a cocktail and a beer. The inviting atmosphere and excellent service made for a comfortable and enjoyable evening filled with great conversation. However, the pasta dishes were quite average, especially considering the price; neither of us found them particularly impressive. This left us with mixed feelings about the overall experience.nnThis place includes a live music by a pianist.nnI would recommend this restaurant to couples seeking a romantic venue in Wellington, primarily for its beautiful ambiance.
Whenever I think of Wellington, this is the one restaurant that is a must visit for me. Besides having fond memories, it is good food, service, and most of all, the atmosphere.nnNow, at a bigger setup than the previous location and retaining the same flavour set up. It was especially wonderful.nnIf you want comfort food and feeling like you are in Italy. This place does feel like it.
Ate here on Thursday night, early dinner. Service from two young ladies was fantastic! Attentive and fast. Garlic bread was my favourite. Garlic prawns were abit too salty for my taste but otherwise nice. Steamed veges and brandy chicken was nice but on the more expensive side for what you get. Lasagne okay and penne pasta good. Everything was pleasant. Dessert had a round piece of plastic on top of it. I told young waiter just so they know to check where this came from as there may be more. He just said he didn’t know. And I said maybe just tell the chef so he can check. But not sure if he did as nothing more was said. I would dine here again if in the mood for classic Italian.
All round Outstanding -nnWe enjoyed an out of this world experience at Nicolini’s. From the get go the moment we walked in we felt so well taken care of.nThe atmosphere was buzzing with activity, the servers were so aware and sooo well trained. Very personable and so wonderful.nnLoved also how Tony would sit with his clients and catch up with them. The only time I ever saw that happen was 15years ago in Chch at my mums friends Italian restaurant “il felice” 56 Litchfield St Chch.nnTony was telling us some of the customers have been coming there for 10-15 years. I now know why!! They love the people and the food, and you all make it easier to love “Nicolini’s”.nnBest restaurant I’ve been to in Wellington!!!n recommend
great food, large portions, reasonable price, romantic and cosy, charming italian staff. pictured is Rigatoni Roma 10/10 - beautifully slow cooked lamb in a rich sauce with al dente pasta…. and Spaghetti Meatballs 7/10 - too many meatballs and not enough sauce/pasta in my opinion, depends how much you like meat.nDoesn’t seem like their pasta is homemade but i could be wrong! either way it’s delicious.
