When I lived in Waiuku 6 years ago, I used to come here, when Nick owned it, and the food was always Devine.nVisited the other day and feel that the cafe has gone downhill. Have to say I did not have a cooked meal so cannot give an opinion on that, the lady chef seemed to be doing a good job at the cooker and what I briefly saw on other people's plates looked reasonably good. I had a coffee and a slice. The coffee was okay, I had to ask for the slice,as it had been forgotten. It wasn't fresh and it was commercially made, not made on the premises per the past.nI won't visit there again when I visit Waiuku
Came in a group of about eight people. Took over an hour to get out everyone’s food. Except for the first person who ordered and it never showed up. It seemed to take them a long time to make eggs most of the eggs were poached so not sure why they could not have cooked them all at the same time. Then one person had hollandaise sauce added them they asked for it to be removed when the ordered. The coffee was nice. I ordered the caesar salad though was pretty low quality with what looked like bagged salad instead of cos.
Generous portion sizes.nnThe bacon still had hair on rind which I didn’t like. ‘It wasn’t to our taste.nnCoffee was good also.
Service was terrible. Took an hour to get our food and 45 minutes for coffee/milkshakes and there was only one other table when we arrived. Food was pretty average and the cafe didn't have a very clean feel to it.
I like Nick's Cafe. Their food is tasty, the coffee is great and the service is good. There is not a huge selection on the menu but what they do, they do well. A range of seating options with a couple sharing tables as well as smaller settings. A small outdoor area available for warmer weather.
