Great place for a walk, to exercise your dog and or your children. Plenty of options including small play park , beach, fishing, most ball sports, etc. Most areas are on lead for dogs and kids however the areas closest to and including the beach are off lead . While there is a safe shallow area for dogs and kids to play, be very careful of the steep drop offs into the main channel which has brutal currents when the tide is flowing.
Facilities include two large sports fields . For cricket, and softball while I was there playground for the kids, good fishing, plenty of space for about 30 Freedom Campers. Toilets close by pet friendly and even a Doggie training club. Next to the fields. One of the closest camp grounds for those using the Interislander.
Nice place to park up for the night after our Bluebridge Cook strait crossing. Shame we witnessed an overseas tourist do no 1 right in front of us with no regard.
The place is changing, lots of rules broken. Chapeau to the toilet cleaners, after the mess from last night they managed to get it spic and span again this morning.
Ngati Toa Domain in Plimmerton, is a really nice park which has the benefit of open fields on one side and the beach on the other. The playground is not that big, but with all the natural opportunities for fun around, it doesn't need to be. A great park for connecting with the outdoors.
