Ngahere Lodge is an 18 acre Angus Lowline stud located next to the small rural town of Hunua, 30 km south of Auckland City, New Zealand
Ngahere lodge operates as a Lowline Angus beef stud registered with the Australian Lowline Cattle Association (ALCA). A small number of pedigree Wiltshire sheep are co-farmed with the cattle for pasture control and to supply the ample larder at the Lodge.
Careful breeding with some of the worlds best Lowline Angus genetics has resulted in a small breeding herd of superior quality pedigree Lowlines that are well recognised in the marketplace for their premium quality. All animals remain on the pastures year round and are 100% grass fed and finished with no use of growth promoters or other non organic methods. During winter months when grass growth is slower, the feedstock is supplemented with pasture hay cut and baled on the property during the previous summer and dry stored on the farm. The property is set up to facilitate a 40 day pasture cycle through small paddock units. A low intervention philosophy is adopted with both pasture management and animal health. Other than very basic internal parasite control we do not use medications, growth promoters, Sprays are not used on the pasture and with frequent use of chain harrows to spread the animal manure we have no need for artificial fertilisers.
