Friendly helpful staff and nurses nice and clean rooms and decent selection of snacks for donors
The staff are always welcoming and the process is easy. What's really great is they notify you when your blood's been used to save a life.
I have been to this place to give donations twice now, the first time the machine kept stopping working because the staff member had stuck the needle 'into a valve' in my vein, the second visit same staff member the same thing happened except there was no blood draw whatsover thanks to bad positioning of the needle, so they had another go in my other arm, then they had to stop because they were returning the blood from my first arm into the SECOND hole they'd made in my second arm, and this time there was AIR in the machine so I would have died if it had gone into my arm. Then I got told off by the nurse for describing this as a "f-up". I'm not sure what else you'd call this. It took them almost an hour to NOT draw any blood. They obviously don't know what they're doing and haven't been trained properly. Complete and utter and stressful and dangerous waste of time. No wonder they have to keep begging for blood donors.
Have donated whole blood, plasma and now donate Platelets. Next donation will be 118th.. can't wait
Such friendly staff. Always a lovely atmosphere in the place
Nice place, good people, tasty snacks and tea. Ideal place to drain a pint.
The staff at the Wellington branch are always super friendly and courteous. On every donation visit, I’ve been made to feel welcome and comfortable. The blood technicians and staff all go above and beyond in their service of duty, it’s an absolute pleasure being able to return to play our small part.
They're not very friendly if you happen to be ineligible to donate. I was turned away today, feeling very disappointed of course, not only because I couldn't donate, but at how I was turned away. I was ushered to leave and wait in the car for my friend, who could donate, for an hour. Knowing that my blood type O negative would have been very helpful, I felt like today that they viewed my blood as being tainted.
I've given 82 plasma donations in the past 3 years and every visit has been an enjoyable experience. The nurses are great value and very professional. More people should become donors Carl Beentjes
My experience with NZ blood- Wellington Branch is pathetic. I took day off from the job for blood donation and wasted 3 hours back and forth from home without blood donation. I found they can’t take blood due to very silly reason. They should have send eligibility form on mail which we fill at NZ blood centre or interview over the phone to check eligibility specially when it’s pre booked appointment for first time donors. Neither it’s available on website about detail eligibility to donate blood on website it’s only overview of eligibility. As per website “Eligibility Test” it shows I am eligible for donation but still they refused. It’s disappointed me and frustrated me as it costed me “my leave” plus 3 hours of my time + travel cost. “””First time donors please insist them to take your detail interview before you invest your time, money and blood.””” I am not donating again after my experience with pathetic administration and procedures of Wellington branch.
