A very tidy shop; well stocked & immaculately clean 5 & miles better than Woolies.nnUnfortunately listening to the customers cueing at checkout, they werent too happy & when i got to self scan i understood why.nnTrying to pay for a loose bakery items was far too difficult in a menu that's not split by department & the plethora of payment options frankly distracted from an otherwise pleasant shopping experience: keep it simple.nnWhy have packers when your self scan is difficult to use ?nnReplacing the threadbare entry carpet & reinvigorating the presto area would all add to the customer experience too.nnOtherwise a neat wee shop.
I could not wait to do this review.I would like to thank one of your workers named Alex i hope I get it right. This young man was very busy packing drinks on shelves and my husband grabbed the last bottle of water but we needed 1more.This young man stopped what he was doing and went all the way out the back and came back with a box of water and then took 1 out and then he wanted too carry it for me as I am on crutches but I was ok.This young man showed respect and kindness and I am grateful for his help today.Thank you new world waikanae you guys rock .
What an absolute joke of a supermarket. It's one thing to be completely overpriced, but to not serve alcohol to a fourty year old woman because she doesn't have I.D. beggers belief. I can tell you now that on no planet do I look like I could be 17 years old. My 43 year old partner was also denied even though he had I.D! Celine is a horrible manager that needs to be fired for her awful judgement and customer service. 0/10 will never return to this New World, when the one in Paraparaumu is so much better and knows how to treat it's customers.
I purchased premium minced meat from this supermarket. Visually, it appeared bright pink and fresh on the outside, but after opening the package it was clear that inside the meat was grey and oxidised, indicating it was no longer fresh.nGiven this obvious discrepancy, it is clear that the supermarket is using unfair and misleading practices to deceive customers. If such manipulation is considered acceptable, one can only wonder what other methods this supermarket resorts to in order to mislead its consumers.
Standard overpriced supermarket with the added thrill of receiving nasty static electrical shocks from the metal shelving units or anything metal that might be touching the shelves; or to have staff ask to look through your bags as though you were seen as a Dickensian petty thief, which has only happened three times.nIt makes for an interesting shopping experience.nQuite a narrow range of goods available plenty of rock salt, never ever any Pacific flaky sea salt and quirky, slightly illogical placement of some lines that takes a bit of getting used to. Some curry pastes and sambal oelek among the dry spices! Delicious individually packaged giant dill pickles in the Asian foods section! Tahini amongst the breakfast spreads! Steak and Cheese pie amongst the chilled vegan products!nFresh produce is generally in good condition, and some products are hopelessly mislabeled. Meat/butchery looks pretty good. Nice to see turkey mince appearing. Also a good range of the superior l'authentique charcuterie.nFish sometimes poorly stored and exhibiting signs of age. Weird signature dish of take-home salmon mignon looks frightening - salmon fillet wrapped in graying streaky bacon, topped with oxidised basil ? pesto.nEqually odd are the jars of faux salmon caviar, presumably made in the molecular gastronomy style in a factory far, far away.nDeli counter looking fairly grim, decorated ham often a clumsy centerpiece.nReasonable selection of local and imported recreational cheese.
