The supermarket itself is clean, well-organized, and has a great selection of products. Unfortunately, our checkout experience completely changed our impression.nnWe visited New World Wanaka at around 6:22 pm today. The female cashier was very friendly and cheerful with the local family in front of us, chatting with them and playing with their child. However, the moment it was our turn, her smile disappeared. She didn’t greet us, barely looked at us, and silently scanned our groceries with a cold expression.nnAfterwards, we noticed that the Asian customers behind us were also treated in the same way, while her attitude towards local customers seemed noticeably warmer.nnWe’ve been travelling around New Zealand for several days now, and one of the things we’ve loved most is how warm and friendly the locals have been. This was the first time we felt we were treated differently, and it was genuinely disappointing.nnWanaka is a popular destination for visitors from all over the world, including many Asian tourists. We sincerely hope every customer is treated with the same courtesy and respect, regardless of where they come from.
My regular supermarket. Well stocked. Would be 5 stars if you didn't have to cope with shelf stackers working there during the day. Perhaps they could stack at night when the store is closed?
Rode into the bike park on my motorbike to park away from the cars and angry supervisor with attitude inside the supermarket was waving furiously at us to shift. There was 1 bike parked there and a lot of empty spots. We just left and went and got our groceries elsewhere where the staff were pleasant. Reading others reviews about this shop it appears they have had the same treatment. We park away from the cars as they don't see motorbikes parked and back into them.
Otis asked if I was waiting for someone to magically appear. Judging by the service, I probably had a better chance of spotting a unicorn.
