Very busy but very great store large variety of produce as well baked products!nStaff were very nice! Prices a bit higher than queenstownnLoved the doughnut so fresh, fluffy and delicious!nHighly recommended!
The supermarket itself is clean, well-organized, and has a great selection of products. Unfortunately, our checkout experience completely changed our impression.nnWe visited New World Wanaka at around 6:22 pm today. The female cashier was very friendly and cheerful with the local family in front of us, chatting with them and playing with their child. However, the moment it was our turn, her smile disappeared. She didn’t greet us, barely looked at us, and silently scanned our groceries with a cold expression.nnAfterwards, we noticed that the Asian customers behind us were also treated in the same way, while her attitude towards local customers seemed noticeably warmer.nnWe’ve been travelling around New Zealand for several days now, and one of the things we’ve loved most is how warm and friendly the locals have been. This was the first time we felt we were treated differently, and it was genuinely disappointing.nnWanaka is a popular destination for visitors from all over the world, including many Asian tourists. We sincerely hope every customer is treated with the same courtesy and respect, regardless of where they come from.
I was so happy and in my holiday mood until the guy, their “supervisor” with 0 communication skills, but full of disrespect attitude snatched the sticker receipts from my hands. He told me “This is not yours”, “apparently what you bought not supposed to have 5 stickers”. Yes I got two sticker receipts from the self-checkout counter, so one must be someone else left there.nI don’t mind if the promotion rules set that way, but I wondering are the stickers so important to New World or SMEG so that guy has to pull the receipts out of my hands????? With the explanation “It’s not yours?”nThis guy told me he was a supervisor of the store, in this case I guess they really need staff training, especially for communication and code of conduct.nBye, New World with poor staff training, no one likes insultingly experience.
Aisling was very helpful at the self-checkout counter. I wouldn’t normally leave a review for a supermarket but we appreciated her help today. Wanaka didn’t seem particularly warm to tourists so this was a very welcome surprise for us.nnOh also! No campervans allowed in the parking lots as their lots are much too small for campervans and we only saw the sign when it was too late and we had already turned in. But there’s a huge outdoor carpark just across the street.
Why every time make the same stupid mistake! ! ! Imported orange but give me NZ orange’s price. And one time, I pointed out, the staff didn’t say sorry any , just say if I would like to keep in line again then can correct. Are you on purpose ?
