Our Mission Statement:
"To support New Brighton’s growth as a diverse and inclusive community through celebration and engagement".
The New Brighton Project is an Incorporated Society, founded in 1994. We run on funding from Council, Community Board and Charitable Trusts.
What We Do (Grass roots community engagement)
Run local events that give the community an opportunity to gather and have fun.
Keep the community informed about what is happening in their area, via news- letters, presentations and social media.
Act as a referral service for those in need. Providing up to date information of social services for locals via social media, phone or drop in.
Run the New Brighton Blanket Bank. Providing warm bedding for our community over the winter via donations.
Field education for CPIT social work students. Via student placements and group projects.
Work alongside local churches, community groups, schools, businesses, council and government for the betterment of New Brighton.
The Wave
Published in the first week of the month our newsletter includes Community articles and information about events, groups and activities in the greater New Brighton area. We distribute hard copies to local businesses and groups and also publish an online copy using joomag.com
The Seaside Market
First held in 2000, The market runs from 10am till 2pm every Saturday and is a true community market with a bouncy castle, free face painting, big games and sometimes even pony rides. There are a range of stalls that are growing steadily including arts, crafts, vintage and retro, fresh produce, baking and yummy food stalls.
The Blanket Bank
The Blanket Bank came about three years ago when NBP became a referral point for CEA’s Curtain Bank. Our team saw a need in the community and have since, run a very successful service with referrals now coming to us from many agencies across the city.
Subscribe to our e-newsletter so we can keep in touch. We’d like to keep you informed about upcoming events in our area, tell you about what we have been up to lately as well as give you a chance to get involved.
