It's got a great seventies vibe. The water is clean and warm. Great staff. It's the only 50 meter pool north of Christchurch on the south Island I think. If you like a big long pool this is it. Also kids play area and 3 meter diving board I'm not sure how good. Students use the pool mid morning when school is in session but I still had plenty of space to swim. I suspect the pool will get busier as it warms up. Really it's a great place to swim.
Very poor experience at this pool. 50 m pool is too shallow for aquajogging if you are of average height. Access to the water is difficult if you use a walking stick , with 3 sets of stairs between the changing room and the pool edge. Only 1 set of adequate steps with a hand rail to enter and exit the actual pool.
I’m only reviewing the showers, for other tourists traveling in self-contained vehicles -nnThe worst shower I've ever had in New Zealand! NO privacy whatsoever! You're literally showering in an open area, with no curtain or wall. The reception staff should mention this to obvious foreigners traveling in a self-contained campervan, wanting a proper shower who arrive without a swimsuit, just a towel and soap, expecting a normal shower! Unbelievable! And they charge six dollars for this! For an almost cold shower with no pressure and no privacy! It would be exactly the same to take a shower like that for free on the beach.
Excellent outdoor pool complex; lots of space to relax beside the pools. From diving boards for bombs to toddlers pool. Spent a great couple of hours very easily. Plenty of shady areas for spectators
Awesome pool, great staff, done a week of morning swims in the outdoor 50mtr pool, lots of space in the lanes. Very warm , diving well is awesome
