Napier's only eco-cultural tours. Providing exclusive and private tours of Napier's Māori sites in the Hawke's Bay.
Tēnā koutou – Warm greetings to you
We provide exclusive and private tours of Napier's Māori sites in the Hawke's Bay region of New Zealand.
Founded in September 2017, by Hinewai Hawaikirangi and Cameron Ormsby.
Hinewai has a background in Science, Māori Language and Physical Education secondary school teaching. Educating visitors about our local Māori History is her passion.
Cameron also has a background in Science, working to protect the Environment as an Environmental Scientist.
We are heavily involved in our community, leading many cultural and environmental projects. We will be sharing our environmental mission to reduce our human carbon footprint, and enhance our ecosystem health alongside our community and visitors by planting native trees, on our native lands. Through our river management plan we have successfully planted 7500 native trees.
Hinewai is a Trustee of the Waiohiki Marae, a Māori carved community complex with cultural and artistic heritage for our local tribe. We are rebuilding the $1.8 million complex for the benefit of our Māori people, culture and visitors from afar.
Hinewai and Cameron along with our immediate family are currently developing a Papakāinga (family housing on communal ancestral land) of newly built houses, living much like our ancestral villages. This community environment provides social, physical, spiritual wellbeing and safety where our Māori cultural practices are shared.
Cameron, as an Environmental Scientist also undertakes scientific research monitoring projects for our Tūtaekurī River tribes, where the protection of the whole health of our ecosystem is the key focus.
We welcome you into our community and our way of life.
