Nanma's Knits

What a treasure find. I needed Marino wool and I got it! There was some method to her slight chaos. I fortunately started long enough to find the system and take some gems home. There is more yarn than I will ever see in my life.

There aren't many small yarn shops in Houston, and I finally made it over to visit. Nancy owns and runs the shop and she is a spunky lady with sass. Super chaotic inside and absolutely packed to the brim, but its because Nancy said she orders enough yarn in each color for her customers to complete en entire project without having to order more. Super old school yarn shop, don't expect anything different and try to appreciate the novelty and variety of fibers offered :

The owner is very kind, and the selection of yarn is very diverse in terms of materials and colors! I am not experienced in knitting, but I was very impressed. The owner offers classes, too.

Great little store that seems to carry a little of everything with great staff and owner. Very knowledgeable people here for questions and ideas.

Nancy was super nice to me when I came in. I was looking for Cascade 220, which she unfortunately didn't carry, but she tried to help me find a similar yarn. The store is stuffed with yarn from floor to ceiling, but she guided me to what I was trying to look for. She had a great selection of yarns from what I could see, and the prices didn't seem particularly outrageous from any other yarn shop. I ended up buying a small packet of wool wash. Not exactly a big profit from me, but she was still super friendly! I wasn't able to find the exact yarn I needed this time, but when I need yarn for my next project, I will be back!

I love this place! I crochet with cotton exclusively and it is such a joy to come here and browse around and find exactly what I had in mind. Nancy, the store owner, is amazing, always wants to help and has good ideas for how to take care of your projects. I've been here so many times and will keep coming back!

Wonderful store! There is a huge variety of yarn and needles/hooks in stock! The owner was very kind and amiable, and she knows everything about her yarns! She was very helpful and a great person to talk with. An amazing store, whenever I visit Houston again Nancy's Knits is on the top of my list!

The lady was very rude to my grandmother and I before we even browsed or anything. My grandmother was looking for a yarn that looked similar to a yarn that she bought in Mexico. The lady boasted that all of her stuff is high quality and that she didn't have anything like it because what my grandmother had was probably from Wal-Mart. She didn't even bother checking or even guided us to anything so we could check ourselves. In addition, everything was very disorganized and the place smelled strange...on top of all else. 0/10 would not recommend.

I flew from Boston to Houston on Monday w/o my interchangeable needles as I thought they'd be confiscated at the airport. Nancy's Knits had a similar brand so I thought I'd buy a new cord and needles in the new brand so I could finish the baby project for my daughter. The store clerk was gracious enough to check and see if her brand needles fit the cord I already had to save me an expense rather than make the sale for herself!! I was totally surprised and very thankful for her thoughtfulness.....I wouldn't hesitate to use her store again and I recommend everyone to try Nancy's Knits for their knitting needs.

So this yarn shop is conveniently located but that's where the good part ends. The shop is small, cramped and terribly disorganized. There are towering racks of shoe racks or something similar holding yarn which is arranged by no particular standard. There are no prices on the yarn or racks which forces you to ask the price for everything. Very inconvenient and an annoyance by itself but the owner is usually busy. Also some of the yarn I bought was improperly stored and when wound broke more than 15 times despite being of a quality brand. I would not recommend even bothering to go by.brand.bust with her regular costumers so you must wait to AK jer.
