Hidden gem in Thames! Amazing Thai food and decorated in Thai fashion. I can recommend mixed entree and Chicken with macadamia nuts. Good change from my usual curry or Pad Thai.Food: 5/5

You will need to book a week or more in advance, but its worth the planning. The meals are great quality and portion sizes are very generous. A wide range of cuisine, from mild to traditionally spicy. The staff are incredibly professional and efficient, but also have a playful banter making it a very friendly visit. Despite being a very popular venue, there is rarely any wait on being served, or delivery to table. They also do takeaway on top of the seated table service.
We stopped for a quick dinner at Nakontong Thai on the way back to Auckland from Whitianga. The service was okay but one of the lady at the counter stared at my husband all the time, made him feel so uncomfortable that he had to say something! We ordered 3 different dishes. Pork sizzling plate was okay. Chicken fried rice was very average and lacked a lot of flavour and didn’t have much chicken on it. And the prawn pad Thai was one of the worst pad Thai we’ve ever had. It wasn’t edible. The noodles were way too over cooked and barley had anything on it. Wasn’t tasty at all & very smelly place. I think that’s the best you can get in Thames.

We came to Nakontong with a large group after a funeral and were welcomed warmly with amazing food and service from the team here. Food was very quick , very delicious and the staff were fantastic. The BEST Roti that I have ever had.Food: 5/5
authentic Thai restaurant with good food and typical kitschy decoration. Friendly and helpful staff. Rice was served a little unceremoniously, but flavour more than made up for it. Best Asian restaurant in town. Parking: Plenty of free parking in the streets surrounding the restaurant
Had a great dinner here, very good value and easily accommodated our large party booked ahead!. Very good service too, great place, thanks.
Went for lunch, as I am out of town visiting my family. This restaurant is superb for cleanliness, service, and food. Within anyone's budget. Recommend to all.
