Story

Oamaru Islamic Centre managed by Muslim Association of Oamaru Incorporated
are Muslim community base in small town in New Zealand called Oamaru. That very well known as Victorian town with the Blue Penguin colony and Steampunk. We are small but growing Muslim community that mix culture from Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Fiji, Jordan, Turkey, Bangladesh, Srilanka and Egypt.
We used to move from house to house for our activity such as Sholat fardu, Taraweh , Iftar, Reading Qur'an lesson for kids and Regular lesson about Islam for Adult.
Until one of Brother Community kindly let us use his house Garage as Temporary place for Pray activity. This garage capacity is 25 people for all adult or up to 30 people if we mix adult and kids meanwhile the Muslim population in Oamaru its around 58 people and slowly growing up. This tell us that if all of us come to gathering and want to pray together there is no enough space.
Oamaru is transit place for people traveling within the South Island. And when our Muslim brothers and sisters transit and looking for place to pray as well as to fresh up. It would have been better if we had a proper place where they can use the toilet at the same time.
Since I've started my campaign back in November 2016, with the help of Allah and Generous donation that has help us to secure 1 year operational of our New Islamic Centre that we just rencently rent start on 27 January 2016 this include rent and bills for 1 year.
This place divided into two section one for Pray room and the other one for Islamic Centre Activity.
Our regular activities include, Congregational Prayer for Salah Fardu and Recite Hadist after each pray
everyday, Reading Quran Lesson and Islamic Story teller for kids lesson twice a week, Sharing knowledge of
Islam twice a month, Monthly Ladies group activity for fundraiser program and Muslim Gathering every two
months. And Many more to come. We also accommodate a visit from Jamaah and Muslim traveler that visit or transit Oamaru.
All of these activities are 100% runs voluntarily as our income is 100% base on donation.
Our goal is to be able to raise money to as little as secure our second year operational and further more is to buy property for the first Masjid in Oamaru within a year as our rent
will be increase in the second year by raising between $200.000 to $300.000
We are fully registered under name Muslim Association of Oamaru Incorporated that hopefully will help us in achieving our goal.
