Solid 30min hike up to the summit from the coast, with an amazing view at the top. It's definitely worth the time.nnThere is roading for cars most of the way up for those just wanting to go to the summit the fastest way. With about just a 10min hike from the nearest road.nnEither option is good.
There is tarred parking lot. Steps up to summit. Last bit is a bit of boulder hopping but not to bad. Scenery is so worth it. It's beautiful.
+ PROS, - CONS and • Informationnn+ Stunning view. Worth it only if you're in the area anyway and feel like a short walk. n+ Car park has lots of space n+ At the car park, which is clearly indicated there is a playground, some shade to sit in and picnic tables n+ Signs with information about the location ℹn+ 2pm on a Wednesday only two other people nn- No cover at the top to enjoy the view. Wear sunscreen, especially in summer n- No shade to park in. The car will be hot when you come back. I cracked my windows open a little which helped a lot.nn• I have moderate fitness. I powered through the uphill which took me 9 minutes to climb up. Down I enjoyed the views which took me 12 minutes back to the car park. Total walking time: 21 minutes. ⏱n• Sign at the carpark says it's a 45 minute return walk n• Walk is half covered half in sun n• No need to bring water, just drink enough beforehand
Amazing place! Beautiful scenic views! Marvelous nature! If you are nearby, do not miss this awesome lookout! Climbing to the top is relatively easy. A 15m walk up. Very nice views along the path. Beautiful trees, birds, and scenic views. Lovely!
Bloody amazing! Amazing views of Tairua, Pauanui and the islands. It's a steep walk from the car park up steps and through the bush, with the last bit over rocks. But worth it. Information boards provided so you can learn about the geology and the human development of the area.
