A bit over $150 for day pass and ski hire. Great mountain that overlooks the Canterbury planes on a good day. Lots of room on the mountain, great areas to eat and keep warm, if you don't Snowboard or Ski you can hang out near the fire place and have a good time. Caters for all from beginner easy snopes and experienced runs to parents waiting inside having coffee and cake!
Absolutely fabulous. loved it, went with my friends. It was an amazing experience. The staff are all so friendly. Excellent food and coffee, well priced and great service.
A fun day - bus ride up, tobogganing, amazing lunch including delicious mulled ginger beer!, chair lift to the summit - truly amazing all round. Staff very helpful & friendly, & awesome facilities - clean & warm. Definite 5 stars! Highly recommend - not just for skiers & snowboarders! Thanks heaps
We did have a short day since we had to drive up from Fairlie. It snowed the day before so we had to chain up and that ate more mountain time. We didn't get to the snow until around 1100. The snow was really soft and powdery which was nice. Unfortunately, it was well used so it was quite lumpy both on and off-piste. There were three lifts. The North-West express, the closest to the cafe, led to the beginner's runs. The snow here was nice and there were powdery patches off-piste. some areas were a bit icy or very mogully, particularly in the bowl area. The summit chair goes all the way to the top. There were quite a few nice runs along here albeit a bit lumpy. There was also a trail that headed to the Virgin Mile to get along the edge of the resort. It had really nice views when the clouds left. the last chair, towers triple, is in a difficult area. I was wanting to head down through international but it was already late. I was able to ride up from halfway up though. That entry is near the top carpark and has an entry into the log chute. The base has a few eating options including a restaurant Opuke Kai, a coffee kiosk Sixteen10 and the Sky High Cafe. The cafe does have its own seating inside but you do need to purchase food from there. Otherwise, there are a few seats inside and quite a few outside. I quite enjoyed my time at Mt Hutt but would have preferred a smoother ride. The powder probably didn't help with that but did add something different to the trip.
We went in September so end of season, wife and 15 year old daughter. None of us had ever seen snow before. We saw it snow, we had some beautiful days with blue skies. Fantastic views. Now the skiing, we opted for the intro to the snow package. We had three days of lessons, because we advanced at different rates we could choose to stay together or swap into another group with another instructor. they were all brilliant, we had, jane, david, lucy, tim, and another lady, not once did we feel that we were an inconvenience or just a number.. i can not say enough how good they were and how well we were looked after, everything was included, except food and they had a great cafe to purchace food from.
I’ve been coming here for years. Yesterday was a great day but the only problem I always have is people put there bags everywhere in the dinning area, so finding a table is actually impossible because of the mess. Maybe an outside storage area that didn’t cost is what they need to sort this out. Apart from this the snow was great and I enjoyed my day.
Really nice Mountain, just a bit small if you’re used to mountains outside of New Zealand, and the weather is seldom as good as you’d like it to be. Being this small means there is only 3 lifts, and as soon as the number of people rises, the queues get bigger as well. Friendly staff, night ski, best snow in the area, still make it one of the best mountains in New Zealand though.
Fun time all round. Friendly staff who did a great job keeping things going smoothly every day. With all the lifts running, there is lots of fun terrain to explore and a couple of nice long runs with stunning views. Definitely worth a visit.
Great ski field! Really enjoyed it, the snow conditions is impeccable even in late September! $160 for a day pass plus rentals, will be back!
Absolutely love the cafe upstairs at Mt Hutt I get to relax in front of the fire on a lovely cold day. The coffee and chips are so good. Totally recommend.
