MPOWA aims to see all young people build their confidence and develop skills to steer them towards a successful future.
MPOWA is supported by the Otorohanga District Development Board. Originally set up under the Mayor's Taskforce for Jobs umbrella, the project has been designed to provide information, advice, guidance and support services to 16-20 year olds, in particular school leavers.
All young people have access to this service, whether they are in school, in further education training, employment, doing voluntary work, or are unemployed.
MPOWA aims:
- To connect all young people from 16-20 to employment, training, or other activities.
- To provide information regarding study opportunities, both locally and further afield.
- To encourage young people to make positive choices for their future.
- To keep in contact with the young people every 3, 6 or 12 months.
