Story

I have been studying and marvelling at the beauty and simplicity of Ortho-Bionomy for over five years. It is a gentle but powerful therapy for many conditions. I have had success with arthritic pain, restricted movement, sprains, scar tissue, back and neck pain and tension, stress and anxiety relief, to name a few.

I work from my home-based clinic in Lyttelton.

The work is done mainly on a massage table, the client is fully clothed, preferably in loose-fitting comfortable clothing. The therapy puts strong emphasis on comfort and moving away from pain allowing the body to relax and release muscle tension and often imparting a great sense of relaxation and well-being. NO forceful manipulations are used, we rather move the body gently finding a place where the body can feel safe and, with feedback from gentle compression or traction, release unhelpful holding patterns.

Ortho-Bionomy comes from three philosophies -
From Osteopathy comes the belief that structural issues can cause many other health issues.
From homeopathy comes the belief that less is more, the gentle handling of the body does not cause a fear response, which could lead to more muscle tension, and so can effect powerful change quickly.
From Judo the idea that we use the other's movement and go along with it to influence their direction and movement patterns instead of fighting against it and trying to impose change.
