Wish we'd found this place sooner!nCool history with a beautiful backdrop, and the perfect place for lunch on a sunny winter day.nSuper friendly and efficient staff, really welcoming. nFood exceeded expectations. nThe fish & chips were perfect, loved the fluffy crispy chips with a good bit of salt. Went well with a cold pilsner.nThe venison casserole did not disappoint. Plenty of meat and the rustic toast was made for dunking.nPSnLoved the pickles in the salad. nHighly recommend!
Absolutely Disappointing! Had work Christmas party here and it was horrific! 40 people and we were all disappointed! $70 for average and minimal food. Please avoid!!!!nn# Nope, never been back since! It was 2 options for desert, a brownie or whipped cream. 3 veges and 2 bits of meat. Average chicken that was hard boiled and beef that was rather sad. Not surprised someone was kicked out for poor behaviour. Shame you guys can’t be kicked out for poor service.
Most likely the best pub IMO in the South Island - great staff, magic location, tasty food and an absolutely epic fresh beer selection and the wines are all from within 10 k's too. Some things just can't be replicated - wish I lived in the paddocks nearby ;-
What a joke. Had the house salad. It was like they brought a bag of mixed lettuce, put it all in a bowl, added two tiny tiny pieces of pepper, 1 slither of cucumber and one tiny slither of Gherkin and a dressing. Better to go to supermarket and buy your own bag of mixed lettuce. Needless to say we didn’t stay for dessert or more drinks as had planned to spend afternoon relaxing. Disappointing.
It's been our local pub for over 16 years and we ALWAYS have such a good time. This past Wednesday we treated our 11yo Grandson to the Wednesday nite steak special to celebrate the end of the school holidays and the start of middle school. In his words....This dinner is REALLY Good!
