Sights @ Mount Victoria Lookout. . After several days of hiking up and down hills, decided to hire a driver to bring me as close as possible to the summit. Still had to climb a few more metres to the top though. . Standing over 190 metres above sea level, the 360 degree view is fantastic. . The area also features the New Zealand National War Memorial, and a memorial to Richard Byrd, the American aviator who made the first flight over the South Pole.
Awesome lookout with amazing views over the harbour and the airport. You can see lots of landings and take offs from here which was super cool. Also we saw some beautiful bird species here too
A cool circular viewing platform on the summit of Mount Victoria with 360 degree views of the city of Wellington and the surrounding area including the harbour and the airport. There are some interesting information panels on the handrail of the viewpoint and a large rock set not quite into the middle. There were some very vocal tui here drinking the nectar from the harakeke flax flowers.
A beautiful view of the City but be aware of 2 things....Wellington is WINDY and the drive up to the lookout is on a two lane road with vehicles parked on both sides. Take care and caution both ways!!
Mount Victoria lookout provides a stunning view of the Wellington city - skyline, waterfront and the surrounding suburbs. The lookout is a short drive from Courtenay place and should be at the top of the Things-to-do list in Wellington. Highly recommend it.
Great views of Wellington, the capital of Nu Zilund. Second windiest city in the world after Chicago, apparently. It also features a memorial to the Byrd that flew over the South Pole. Richard Byrd is the first person to fly over both the North & South Poles and is considered a friend of New Zealand. The day views are fantastic, the sunset views are colourful enough to make van Gogh drool and the night views of the twinkling lights below, "inspirational"!
Always a lovely view from here. I recommend walking up through the forest trail and coming down through Roseneath to oriental bay to admire the insane housing solutions to limited space and steep hills.
Beautiful look out over Wellington. Easy to walk and drive to. Stunning on the right day
Fantastic place to come in a perfect blue sky day but don't waste your time in a rainy day. Short easy drive up the hill. Lots of parking.
Great panoramic views over Wellington. Can be accessed on foot, or by car, although there are about 30-40 steps to go up to get to the top viewpoint from the car park.
