Really gorgeous views from here, and it's a pleasant 1.5 hour loop walk along the Rakaia Gorge straight from your room. Just a 10-minute drive from the metropolis of Methven, which the lodge owners Butch and Jo can give you a map of. Rooms were clean and Jo was kind enough to turn the heaters on before we arrived so it was nice and snug. Butch does the cooking and it's clear he's passionate about it. Really tight menu full of local produce. Cocktail menu was very extensive and hilarious but we didn't try anything because Jo seemed stressed out and I didn't want to push her over the edge.
Lovely clean motel room. Comfortable bed and excellent shower. The hosts were so helpful and accommodating. I had a health problem and Jo was so kind and helpful. Would highly recommend a stay in such beautiful surroundings.Rooms: 5/5

Jo and Butch are great hosts who instantly make you feel at home. The location is superb and the view stunning . Had one of the best steaks last night that I have had in a very long time. We are here for a week and looking forward to exploring this beautiful spot.Rooms: 4/5

Lovely welcoming service, great food and perfect views. We stopped in for a late lunch after visiting Lake Coleridge. Our hosts sat us down by the fire whilst they got our table ready with the best view of Mount Hutt. We chose the Salmon fillet and the Coconut curry seafood entree. The salmon and the scallops were cooked to perfection! Highly recommend for this visiting Mount Hutt or surrounding areas.
If you need serenity, peace and quiet, lodge style amongst beautiful gardens and right at the gorge than look no further. Jo and Butch are absolutely fantastic hosts, very friendly as family, great food, clean rooms, great heating, great advice on local places, best advice on skiing. Couldn't find one fault even if I looked through microscope.
Very quiet and relaxing with lovely views over Rakaia Gorge and the mountains. Hosts Jo and Butch were very friendly and welcoming and we had an excellent meal in restaurant. welcoming
I have visited a few times over the last 10 years. It has good views over Rakia Gorge. The place has potential when the 70's design is updated. Sadly, on a recent visit I found the host rude and unaccomodating. I will not return until new hosts are found.Service: 1/5
