The place is in upper hutt and its near to the railway station and bus stop. They mostly release all the indian movies. Hollywood, bollywood, kollywood or Tollywood you can watch here for less price. 14$ for a ticket is reasonable, the indian movies normally releases in a small theatre though. They have popcorn, drinks, combos, lollipops and much more for a movie.
Good location, easily accessible, enough parking space. Lots of tables, chairs, and sofas are available for waiting. The stall inside serves most of the hot and cold beverages. Obviously, popcorn is available! Screen size was okay, could be bigger. Seats are a bit uncomfy.
There was one person on the food and ticket sales. The priority queue who had booked via website waited and waited. If it wasn't for customers asking for service to a young teenage guy who wandered out from the back people could easily have missed their movie start. He was pretty disinterested but had to serve in the end. It's the school holidays on a freezing day. Many people were coming in and there was really no staff, no urgency, and no interest from the cinema. They really need to get their act together .
Grabone was declined due to it being a new movie - the fine print on voucher says special screenings or events which this was not. Only 4 others in the cinema room. They refused to adhere to the voucher. Had to pay to see the movie, as voucher wasn't accepted. Doesn't give the customer a pleasant experience.
If i could give zero stars i would. We brought tickets before the movie had started and was told there would be a delay. Because of this we went to the car and waited 15 minutes not knowing when the movie would start. We then went inside, all doors were locked, having to go around to try get in through the other door. When we finally got let in a man with blonde hair rudely approached us and said "im giving you a small popcorn and one ticket" with no explanation. He then proceeded to say over and over again how "we aren't supposed to be here." Even though we had paid money to watch this movie. He started getting aggressive throwing his hands around and hitting things bit dramatic I was in shock with how i was getting spoken too considering we paitently waited and got locked out. His tone was disgusting and he does not deserve that job if he thinks speaking to customers like that is okay. I work in retail and this is not the way you treat your customers. Dont even want to go to this cinema anymore because of this.
Changed the advertised screening time of a movie they are the only ones in the Wellington region showing, to EARLIER than previously advertised. When we arrived after traveling from the Wairarapa for the screening, got a shoulder shrug and well you can always go in now, despite having already missed a significant portion of the movie.
A litle dated, and audio quality can be a bit lackluster at times. Considering how few cinemas there are in the Wellington Region right now, you'd think they could afford some upgrades. It's a real shame, because Upper Hutt is in dire need of a good cinema-going experience. Good for the kids, but if you're looking for an authentic cinema experience look elsewhere.
The chairs here are so comfy, the staff are so friendly. I love the girls nights and other events they do regularly. A great cinema
I like the Monterey! Not crowded and good choice with seating and the price was reasonable and it's still modern
You can't go wrong with montery just remember to order the hot food 30 mins before screening sometimes yes they have hot chips! those trailers & adverts are a welcomed delay if, you impulse food buy hahaha thanks Montery for offering great service!
