Mokaba Cafe

Good food at a good price. The only difficulty is that there is no table service so you need to queue up to order if it's busy. Pretty relaxed atmosphere.

Food is great, big serving. Ambience is nice. Al fresco dining. Will definitely dine again when I come back here at WhangareiFood: 5/5

Excellent Cafe next door to the Hundertwasser Art Centre in Whangarei. We were able to book a table for a large group and pre-order our food. Great service and big portions of food. Entrance is via the water side, if the Shop by the carpark is not open. Lovely coffee too

Always busy here and have only been to buy coffee before today but we thought we would try something for brunch.. we both got the B.L.A.T that comes with chips on the side.. a little dry and basically a half of avocado just on top of everything else maybe could of been spread out? The bread was very crusty and dry and bacon was also hard and dry but it was ok. Iced coffee was the highlight though. Mango smoothie could do with some ice or be a lot more chilled as it was quite warm. Staff are friendly and is mostly clean around the tables ect possibly would give 2.5 stars out of 5 for today.

I have to say that the new renovations have made for much smoother & more relaxing indoor dining..no longer any dish stacking sounds which never kept us away all the same as the place has always been welcoming & enjoyable for getting with others. I haven't had many of the meals to rate the food fairly but I would have liked to add a half star to my 3 which means 'very good' to me. Always has been & is a very good welcoming service. A high five to the noticeably exceptional long term waitress.

I love this place! The food is great, I have tried most of their menu by now and have enjoyed everything I ordered. The service is awesome, always friendly and onto it. They make a mean Iced coffee and Iced Chocolate.Food: 5/5

Been coming here for years and has always been good - until today. My wife ordered 2 x mushrooms on toast, and was served 2 x mushroom sides. These are taken away and reappeared with some toast - by now the mushrooms were cold and congealed. We are also told we had another $15 to pay, and that it was my wife’s mistake. Really poor service when this sector needs all the help it can get. Oh well, we’ll have to find somewhere else to eat in future

Mokaba Cafe is beautifully placed in an envious position in Whangārei Marina at the scenic town basin. The outdoor area is sheltered with roll up clears allowing shelter from the wind and rain and when rolled up clearing the way for a cooling breeze. Indoors is well laid out, spacious, comfortable and relaxing. The menu caters for most tastes and dietary needs. The display cabinet proudly shows off its delicious looking food that would have no trouble tempting customers to have a bite of only coming in for a coffee. I made the mistake of ordering an iced coffee not realising it would come sweet. Concerned about impacting my sugar diet I was prepared to buy another drink and leave the the iced coffee which tasted amazing and buy something else with no sugar. The staff were amazing and exchanged free of charge which prompted me to leave this review. The staff are amazing. Helpful and very friendly. Highly recommend as an all round 5 star cafe for all the right reasons !!! Keep up the amazing work to make this place a great casual dining experience Mokaba Cafe !!! Really yummy food, was quite busy as we got there right on 12pm. Wait time wasn't too bad despite most tables being full. Outdoor seating is nice and sheltered. Cute art gallery at the back to browse after lunch.Food: 5/5

The best cafe in Whangarei. If we go anywhere else we are always disappointed. Great coffee, delicious food and and friendly staff. Just like their adverts say!!! The outlook over the boats at the Town Basin is a bonus.
