Please upgrade my local park. Right next to Massey Rugby. Heaps of parking on and off street. Shops and royal heights 1 minute drive. Close to motorways, malls and schoolsnnUPDATE: THEY FINALLY UPDATED THE PARK AND IT LOOKS AMAZING. ITS BEEN ABOUT A MONTH NOW AND THE PARK HAS ATTRACTED SO MANY MORE LOCAL RESIDENTS. I DO HOPE THEY PUT IN MORE BBQ AREAS...THE PLACE LOOKS AMAZING THOUGH
Moire Park is beautiful! It is very big and has multiple entries. I initially went to Moire Road because that makes sense, right?. There is an entry to Trees for Babies, where hundreds of trees were planted for babies born in Waitakere. Unfortunately there is no parking, except on the side of the very busy road nnThere is another entry at Granville Drive. This offers a big car park next to a great playground, sports field, sports club, basketball court, and toilets nnThere are many different walkways to explore. Some start at 1km, others are up to 3.45km. Unfortunately the markers are not great, and the arrows become confusing. At one stage I got a bit lost, and had to back track more than I would have liked ‍nn The main area around the car park is paved, and pushchair friendly. If you want to explore the awesome bush areas, then be prepared for a bit of a hike, uneven ground, exposed tree roots, mud, and gravel road. But also the most astonishing clear water with lovely little waterfalls and native birdsong I wish I had my togs costume, because I just wanted to dive in! I was particularly hot and bothered, and the crystal clear water looked so inviting ‍ It was a very rewarding outing!
Just an honest review on the basketball court for the hoopers out west looking for a spot to play outdoors - The court is poorly made. Ground isn’t level so the hoop is too high depending on where you’re standing on the court and the seal is bumpy making it no good for dribbling a ball on. Poor drainage leaves slippery spots and puddles. The rim on the standard size hoop closer to the road isn’t level either, the front is tilted upwards. Rims also don’t have any shock absorbers so they’re extremely stiff meaning all your rebounds just end up bouncing off and rolling down the hill since it’s also not fenced. This court sucks, they had a blank canvas to finally build a decent court like the Albany burroughs on the shore and Silo Park in the CBD and they totally botched it. West deserves a decent outdoor court for scrimmages and I thought this could have been it but it’s beyond disappointing
I love this park, especially the wooded areas! Lots of trails - makes me feel like I'm out of the city.
So much better now after the upgrade! My kids all love it 12 and 10 and also my 15 month old, she enjoys the little trampolines, the slide and swings. So nice to be able to go somewhere that is suitable for a wide variety of ages. My teen enjoys the fields to kick a ball around. Also fun for the dogs as there is off leash areas.
