Last week we visited Mitre 10 Te Puke to buy a water feature after our 9-year-old daughter saw one at her friend’s house. While looking at the display, I picked one up from the shelf to get a closer look, not realising the glass crystal ball on top was not attached. Unfortunately, it fell and broke.nnWhat was most disappointing was the sudden change in the staff member’s attitude. The lady assisting us went from being helpful to quite rude and immediately told us that we had to buy it. We felt pressured and ended up purchasing the water feature without the crystal ball. She also didn’t ask if we needed anything else, even though we were planning to buy a small table to go with it.nnWhen I asked how the water feature worked, the explanation was very poor, and we had to figure it out ourselves later by watching YouTube videos. Our daughter was extremely upset when she saw it at home without the crystal ball, as that was the main feature she loved.nnAccidents happen, but this situation could have been avoided with safer product display. Items with loose or fragile parts should be clearly secured or labelled to prevent damage and disappointment for customers. Better customer service, understanding, and proper assistance would have made a big difference. Overall, a very disappointing experience.
Staff from the garden section are always very friendly and helpful. Some other department staff are simply quite rude and don’t know what is customer service. To be specific, I was quite offended by this lady who approached me by saying don’t open those boxes instead of asking me if I need any help:-/ it’s just the simple act that put me off. It’s getting closer to Christmas so I couldn’t decide if I should get a mug or a tea pot for my parents in laws as Christmas present, and with a large selection of mugs on their shelf, I was taking my time to decide which one should I get. And finally I was going to pick a teapot which was around $75 yes, it was a bit pricey for a tea pot but this lady suddenly approached me and said excuse me, you don’t have to open every single box, you can see what’s on the picture! I was shocked and I said I was not going to open it, especially for those sealed ones! And the other ones I checked was not sealed and it was already opened by other people. And she emphasised it again and said you don’t have to open it. Then she left me there in shock. So I just walked away from there speechless and went to the garden section bought my usual gardening supplies and left. Maybe she thought I couldn’t afford it if I break it by accident by the look of my face? I know your store policy, but you don’t have to be so rude you know? You just lost one customer today. I live here, I shop here, but I can also spend my money somewhere that sell mugs and teapot that would allow me to decide or help me decide which one I should get. Cheers to this silly season!

I was looking for ferry lights, there were plenty of multicoloured solar powered, I wanted plug in multicoloured, young guy James greeted and asked if I needed assistance and helped me to find the substitute, great customer service, 5 stars all the way
