Absolutely amazing!! This place rocks!! My venison pie was one of the best pies I've ever had. Full of meat, chunky pieces of delicious meat. And bloody filling with a great pastry. My sausage roll was also really tasty and big too. My lamb and mint pie, was full of chunky pieces of meat and a great mint sauce. This place is definitely worth a visit. I'd go back just to get these pies again. And I'm not kidding. Just perfect. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options available. Kid-friendliness: Lots of things for kids to eat. Parking: Plenty of street parking. Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs. Ground floor entry.
YUM! I've tried a lot of vegie pies in NZ and this is the best one yet by far! The filling is really tasty and the pastry is light without being too flaky. We also tried the shortbread and it was done perfectly. Delicious coffee too. And the person who served me was so friendly and warm. I wouldn't mind if the pie was just a little hotter, but it's a cold day so maybe it just cooled down quickly.
Definitely deserving of the name. This was the first place we came to after completing the Kepler Track. We ordered the Steak & Cheese, the Steak & Pepper and the Steak, Bacon & Mushroom to share between the two of us. The pies were so good we added on the Lamb & Mint, and the next morning we came back to get the Vegetable pie on our way out of Te Anau. Service is so warm and friendly and the Miles Better Pies team even remembered our orders the next morning.
About a 10 minute wait when we arrived at 930am. We ordered the steak, mushroom & bacon as well as the creamy chicken and both were SO GOOD. Considering the fact that we only consumed it after almost 3 hours and it still tasted amazing, it would have been even better when you have it fresh.
Miles better pies was one of the saving graces for us in this tiny town during Winter where a lot of restaurants were closed. We had their venison and seafood pies and wow, the venison pie was juicy and chock full of tender gorgeous meats. Love how the crust holds the generous pie fillings so well. I’m not too keen on venison as my choice of meat but this was A+
A bustling little pie shop in Te Anau, clearly high in the NZ pie ladder with beautiful housemade pies and a quickly depleted cabinet. Had the lamb and mint and was extremely satisfied. Heaps of big lamb chunks complimented perfectly with a coating of mint sauce. Only improvement would be that the warmer needs to be a tad hotter.Food: 5/5
I went in for a mince piece, Afghan cookie, and caramel milkshake. All three were phenomenal and well priced. The staff there was very welcoming and accommodating as I took a bit to order and went across the street to grab something from the supermarket while my milkshake was being made. She put my pie back into the oven to keep it warm, extremely thoughtful. Highly recommend if you're ever in Te Anau, even for a short 30 minute restroom stop!
Great pies. Lamb and mint was very tasty. It is a pie shop, so don't expect huge amounts of ambience. Good quick service, with two ladies behind the counter keeping up with the demand. I would recommend that you get in quick though if you have your heart set on a particular flavour. The place had a line out the door and they were selling out of some pies as we got ours. The place is popular and it shows. Good food and hot and cold drinks available also. There is some seating outside if you want to eat there. No umbrellas over the majority of the tables though, so seats were wet from the rain. Dry ones down the alley to the left of the shop..:...
Lovely friendly staff. My lamb and mint pie was divine. My brother had the steak and cheese which he enjoyed. Great choice of pies. If you want mince and cheese though, these seem very popular, so be quick!Recommended dishesLamb & Mint, Steak and Cheese Pie
