The Dr's are all fantastic but the reception staff are just rude. I get they are busy but I was hung up on twice after I was booked for an apt I did not make. The nurses are great too! It's a shame such a lovely practice is fronted by such unempathetic women. I actually have had 1 very nice receptionist over the 10 years I've been going to this practice but unfortunately I cannot recall her name.
Appalling rudeness from the receptionist when I last visited. I have a mask exemption, have been to see my doctor three times during the “pandemic”, each time without a mask and each time I waited by Reception until my doctor called me. This last time I was told “one size fits all” regarding mask wearing and I had to wear one. I refused, pointed out that on all the previous occasions my exemption was accepted so why not now when almost all the mandates had been cancelled. A few weeks after my visit I received an appalling letter supposedly from a doctor and the practice manager, this was unsigned!!! I have not been provided with any scientific evidence the masks they are forcing on patients stop the spread of anything “contagious” actually work. If they are double vaxxed, boosted and wearing a mask, what part of all that is not working? I guess removing the Perspex screens from Reception is saying that they did nothing to “protect” people either but accepting masks are useless is a step too far. All those “vulnerable” people coming into the medical centre are mixing with unmasked folk everywhere they go - supermarkets, cafes, shops, in the street etc. Stop bullying people and let each individual decide whether to wear a mask or not as is their right.
Doctor Mctaggart was wonderful! He was happy to see my daughter even though she wasn't enrolled at the practice as no one else could see her. He even offered to transfer my daughter and i to the practice as i wasnt satisfied with my current GP. If it was just him, I'd be rating 5 stars. Receptionist let it down though. I went in to pick up the enrollment forms that had been approved and she promptly told me that they weren't accepting new enrollments. After explaining the situation to her she looked very rude and judge as she told me "well if Dr McTaggart says it's okay for you to enroll." I've never thrown out enrollment formally so quickly.
I had blood draws done and a couple results were really abnormal. Having a high potassium level scared me and I was told to get an ECG so I went back into Rangiora and a woman did the ECG. She said the ECG wasn't normal and someone will give me a call the same day on what to do. Nobody called. My husband called the office later before closing and asked what was going on. They told him the ECG was done wrongly and just go get another blood test. They charged me for the ECG and never returned the money. They didn't care that I was scared and waiting for any kind of information. They just kept the money and didn't bother calling.
Had a chest Xray and blood test, nurse called me with the results and advised i had high CRP, indicating inflamation or infection, and she would get the doctor to call me. No call from the Doctor, so called and spoke to Michelle on reception, who said she would get the nurse to call me, i explained i had already spoken with the nurse, and she said the doctor would call, Michelle was pretty rude tbh. I'm now in a situation were i'm struggling to eat and drink, and do not know what is wrong with me. Pretty dissapointed with this outcome, and will probably need to go to A&E if Medical corner can't help me.
Thank you to all the staff/doctor of Medical Corner Doctors and most of all to nurse Debbie. My family really appreciate the effort, time and excellent care/service you've done for us. Big thanks for trying to find ways how to accommodate us and for your great understanding to reduce our/your patients' stress. Thanks everyone and stay safe!
No price listed on the website for Immigration medicals. Rang them, gives an answering machine telling me to email to make a booking, then hangs up. I'm not going to book without knowing the price, and I'm not going to wait around for an email reply when I can call other places and get a price and schedule an appt immediately. If they can't be bothered to chat with me on the phone for 20 seconds, they won't be getting my business.
Spoke to a nurse here called Maria, usually the nurses here are lovely, the one I spoke to came across as quite patronizing and unaccepting when it came to me not understanding something straight away. I don't know if it was meant intentionally but I felt as if I was being spoken to like a child, and felt this was due to me not just ''getting it'' the first time. I have experienced a similar thing talking to receptionists here, that is why I normally speak to a nurse. Some receptionists are nice here, and not rude, so I ended up calling back to speak to a receptionist instead which was better, overall quite offended and disappointed at how any difference in understanding is dealt with, when someone is struggling to get something. You should be accepting of every single person, not just those who are quick at understanding. This felt quite unequitable. This needs improvement for better customer service in some areas. People should feel welcome to speak to anyone here.
Do not go here for immigration medical. Tests were done incorrectly three separate times. It would have been more convenient to go into Christchurch once and 100 times less stressful.
Dr Walsh is hands down the best asset to this practise, always professional and he doesn't faff about - I love an efficient and honest doctor even if he tells me what I dont want to hear. Highly recommend and contrary to other reviews I find the reception staff professional and friendly every single time, they are incredibly busy but still maintain professionalism. Yes there is always a wait time but if you were needing extra time with the doctor for something important would you consider those waiting in the waiting room? Probably not.
