Iconic even if you aren't a fan of McDonalds, it's still an experience.nThe attractioon is the old DC-3 plane that you can sit in to enjoy your meal. Take photos and view the cockpit while you read some of the history of how the plane came to be there.nOutside of that, it's still McDonalds food and service. Our meal was missing elements and there was little to no table options that weren't messy and bins overflowing.
Really is just the DC plane that attracts the people. Other than that, food menu nothing special since all across the country, the menu items are the same. Oh, do note that table service is not available if you expect them to deliver to you dining in the plane. Such service is only in the restaurant itself. And there’s no aircon inside the plane dining area so be prepared to sweat out. All the tables within the plane suited for max 2 pax.
We didn't get McDonald's during our entire trip to NZ, on our second to last day randomly decided to get McDonald's and selexted this location out of two in Taupo and guess what we were in the coolest McDonald's in the whole freaking world! They have a nice McDonald's plane where you can dine in, theres also a cool Captain's room. You get experience of eating McDonald's in the plane! Soo cool. There were lot of kids when we were there and I could tell kids were loving this concept.
Lucky we only really visited to see a McDonalds with an airplane. The service was terrible and the food was just as bad. But it’s McDonalds so have eaten it all over the world and didn’t expectnMuch more than what we got.nThe plane is cool.nStaff could really be more pleasant and ensure you actually receive the order you paid for. But anyway. It is what it is.
Stumbled upon this location not knowing it was voted one of the coolest McDonald’s in the world. You certainly can see why! For that, I’m giving it 5 stars.nThe airplane hours said they closed at 4:30 I think but we arrived well past this time and it was open and people were eating in there.nThe ladies room was out of toilet paper in every stall, which was a bit disappointing. They were very busy but something to note.
