McCashin's Brewery is based in Nelson, New Zealand, and home to one of the pioneers of craft brewing.McCashin's Brewery started life as the Rochdale Cider factory in the late 1930s, however the current building was erected in the 1950s. It was purchased in 1981 by former All Black and farmer Terry McCashin and his wife Bev. They continued to make Rochdale Cider and began brewing craft beer, competing with the brewing duopoly of Lion Nathan and Dominion Breweries.Terry McCashin is credited with being ‘first in craft’ and starting the "craft beer revolution" in New Zealand, and changing the course of the beer industry in New Zealand.The Brewery was re-opened by the second generation of McCashin's in 2009. Today McCashin's Brewery is the oldest craft brewery in New Zealand. Stoke Beer was launched in 2010, and Rochdale Cider was re-branded and re-launched in 2009.Stoke Beer is produced using traditional batch methods, natural ingredients (water, locally grown hops, malt and yeast) There are no additives, preservatives or added sugar. Stoke Beer is brewed and packaged on site.Beers in the Stoke Foundation range include, 2 Stoke, Lager, Pilsner, Gold, IPA, Amber and Dark. Beers in the Stoke Recognition range include Rich Porter and Double Pale Ale. Seasonal releases are available throughout the year.Rochdale Cider range includes Classic Apple and Classic Pear. Rochdale Cider is brewed using traditional methods, with no added sugar or artificial colours, flavours or additives. The apples are sourced locally and are blended with Palaeo pure glacial water.McCashin's have released Palaeo Glacial Water, bottled from an ice age reservoir at the brewery in Nelson, the 14,000-26000 year-old water is some of the purest in the world.
