Great food at reasonable price & good sized portions.. Friendly accommodating staff.. All round pleasent place to stay and meet some of the locals who seem to be regulars for food & drinks at the bar... Great atmosphere & enjoyable conversations were the norm most evenings...Rooms: 4/5
Absolutely recommend stopping in here at least once in your life! Delicious pub food, free pool tables and a great vibe. Super friendly owner and staff, will definitely be calling in again myself! 10 stars
Kia ora, id like to say just lately I've been dining at the Historic Inn and want to say the meals are pretty good. Of ample proportions, well priced, and nicely presented. Tonight 31/10 a younger relief cook served us a flavorsome, very well presented pub meal. A good standard for local food providers to aspire to!
A Kiwi pub frozen in time. Great service, great food. Not many places like this are left around.
Great meal and evening shared with Dave Lynn and other locals
Great food and accommodation, friendly owner, good ambiance
A few different types of tap beer seemed quite flat and off tasting. Wine was ok. Dinner of steaks, fish burger and meat burger etc was good. Dessert of chocolate brownie and vanilla ice cream. Brownie was ok I guess, served with yellow pineapple ice cream. Wasn't keen on that. Also kitchen wasn't open till 6pm. So just having a bowl of fries with your drink after a hard day working wasn't an option.
Went for dinner and had a medium rare steak and it came out like rubber with no seasoning. Was not worth $22. Other people in my party also had sub par meals that were either too cold or lacking flavour. Best part of the dish were the chips! Nice enough staff but cook needs to be replaced or take some pride in their work.
Was a delight to find they were open for lunch on April 23, as coming from the south our usual cafe in Kaiwaka was closed. We have special requirements with parking a trailer and two dogs, so can't stop just anywhere. The food was superb, charming rural views from verandah. Great, friendly service - our new halfway stop between Omapere and Auckland!
Stopped in to rendezvous with my good friend Steve at the Historic Maungaturoto Hotel to view Superbowl 55 but that turned out to be a mere sideshow. Jo, she was our fabulous host - owner and bartender for our lunchtime arrival - looked after us for most of the afternoon as a few locals came and went. We had lunch, played some pool and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of a pub with considerable character and characters :- And yes of course we also had a couple of cold beers! Definitely worth another visit
