What a magical place to stay! We had had a long day of travel and arriving here was just what we needed!! The decor was interesting and comfortable. Beds were AMAZINGLY comfortable. We'd definitely recommend and would love to return one day. Jason was easy to deal with and helpful. it was lovely of him to call the next day to ask how our stay was and wish us well on our travels.
Stayed at Mataura Lodge, Athol, NZ over a weekend. Jason was so accommodating getting us in there last minute, even during Matariki. So grateful for your help and kindness.nArriving to the lodge I was stunned by the beauty of the property the setting was magical perfect way to spend my last night in NZ.nAfter entering the property we fell in love. Perfect place to have a few couples away for quiet or loud adult weekend. Furniture, decor, everything fits into the surround so nicely. Beds are like sleeping on clouds, comfortable and clean. Felt like staying at a high end cabin in Aspen yet still felt like a home away from home. Everything you need for a quick weekend get away or a long vacation away.nHighly recommend staying here I will definitely be back next visit and would love to stay longer to really enjoy everything the property has to offer. Relaxing morning coffee on the bench swing such a beautiful way to get going for the day. Photos honestly don’t do it justice.nCan’t wait to come back and visit. What a gem!! Mataura Lodge is an absolutely great place to stay in the South Island. It's an extremely comfortable, private and relaxing place to stay! Right on The Around the Mountains Cycle Trail and mid way on the road from Queenstown to Milford Sound/Invercargill or Stewart Island. Very quiet and private. Close walking distance to the Athol Shop/Cafe which has delicious food and coffee. The Athol Art Gallery is right next door as well with some amazing art works from local artists. You will not be disappointed with your stay here in this gorgeous country town of Athol NZ . Thank you Jason and Scott we had a wonderful few nights accomadation here with our family.
This is such a luxurious snd tranquil place to stay. Immaculately clean and beautiful surroundings indoor and out. Jason is so helpful and the BBQ meal we ordered had ample tasyy ingredients to cook. An ideal place to stay with a group of friends. We would love to come back
Had an absolutely wonderful stay, very very comfortable and beds were amazing! We had everything we needed and the spot was perfect. We were married in Athol 18 years earlier and loved we could stay at the Lodge to celebrate. Would definitely stay again. Jason was very helpful and friendly.
