I'm deeply impressed!nFirst and foremost:nYes, there is a fare for showering only. For 3 dollars, you can use the hot showers inside the super clean and comfortable changing rooms.nBut I highly recommend visiting the pools, though. They're brand new, easily accessible by a stepless entry in every pool, and the main one has a useful depth about 180 cm. Choose a lane depending on your swimming speed.nFriendly staff's around all the time, on Saturdays at least 3 lifeguards, 2 instructors, and 1 supervision.nKids will have lots of fun playing.nThe best thing on top is that they play music there, which creates a chilled atmosphere.
Awesome pool complex - everything you could want. From the fantastic greeting as you get to reception, friendly lifeguards, and then lots of great lanes. Can’t recommend highly enough!
After being turned away from the Leisure Pool at Pioneer despite it showing as OPEN on their website, I brought my kids to Matatiki Hornby Centre instead. As we were about to pay, I casually mentioned our disappointing experience at Pioneer.nnTo my surprise and great appreciation, the friendly male and female staff offered us free entry as a kind gesture of goodwill. It completely turned our day around. The kids were so happy, and I’m truly grateful for their kindness and understanding.nnThank you Matatiki team — this kind of service really makes a difference! AA++++!
The lifeguards at Matatiki Pool are extremely annoying! While my child is in the pool and I’m watching her, I can’t even touch my phone to reply to a message or change a song without someone immediately coming over to bother me. It’s excessive and intrusive. There are three or four lifeguards or more just standing around, what exactly are they there for? I understand that I’m responsible for my child and I always keep my attention on her, but if something were to happen, it feels like I’d have to jump in the water myself. The lifeguards seem more focused on harassing parents than actually supervising the pool!nIs their main job to supervise the pool or to constantly police the parents?nnI’ve been to many other public pools and NEVER had this kind of problem. This level of interference is simply unnecessary and stressful!nnAnd the showers? Just awful. I know they’re meant for a quick rinse but ennvery time I try to rinse off my child, I end up completely soaked. The water splashes everywhere — on me, the floor, my clothes — and barely hits the child. If they have shampoo or conditioner on, good luck getting it off. The water pressure and direction are so bad that what should be a quick rinse turns into a frustrating mess.nnThis should be a relaxing family experience, but instead, it’s stressful and disappointing.
Nice and quiet pool. Not as busy as QE2 pool. Very very clean and tidy. Warning for all men: Ladies only on Thursdays. After 3pm. This caught me out last week, so I had to drive to QE2. Great news for all women: Ladies only on Thursdays. Anyway, I like swimming here. Try it.
