Official page of the Matamata Volunteer Fire Brigade.
Established in 1923 as a response to a fire which burned unchecked through 5 buildings on Broadway, the Matamata Volunteer Fire Brigade initially consisted of 21 volunteers operating a one-ton Ford lorry out of a lean-to shed on Hetana Street. Our current station on 9 Peria Road was opened in 1979 and we operate out of there with 30 volunteers, 2 Iveco Fire Appliances (Type 1 and Type 2), a light support vehicle and a 13,000L water tanker. Last year we received 270 call out's ranging from fires to accidents and medical emergencies.
