As we were taking an early tour in Hobbiton, this hotel in Matamata offered the cheapest value nearby. The staff was very welcoming, and the rooms were big. The laundry service was great and convenient.nnOne struggle was that the heating device was only in the living room. As it was a cold night, it did not really heat up the bedroom properly.
I had a wonderful time staying here. They were so nice! Affordable and only 20 minute car ride from hobbiton movie tour location! Short walking distance from many different food options. Definitely would love to stay again if given the opportunity!
An older motel but very clean. Updated bathroom facilities, very comfy bed & pillows. Excellent location for easy access to everything the town has to offer, but in a quiet set back from the main road position gardens & driveway block road noise. Staff were friendly. The pool looked clean & there were free laundry facilities.
Rooms were clean and spacious with everything I needed, but it is really the ambiance and location that make this place a fantastic stay. The owner/hostess was welcoming and friendly and really went above and beyond. Easy walk to I-site and after a long day walking around hobbiton, the pool is the perfect finish.
Lovely place we stayed in during our Hobbiton visit. Comfy bed, clean, great amenities, you can do laundry, the staff made us feel really welcomed in Matamata and also gave us a lot of tips for our stay in New Zealand.
