Great base for all outdoor pursuits, be it quad biking to tramping or skiing. Grab your family and friends, room for everyone to enjoy this magic place.
An absolute gem of a place with lots of fascinating history. Thoroughly recommend as a getaway from the hustle and bustle. Mangatepopo will always have a special place in my heart
I have a team of 12 we have stayed twice at this camp and found the custodian pleasant and helpful. Her name was Lynda we arrived late one night during Winter arriving at 9pm she had put the fire on. The Kitchen facilities in the Lodge was well equipped clean and lots of room to spread out and relax in the lounge. We also had the Flat, the team found it comfortable. She was flexible with check in and check out times.
Very outdated setup, old buildings and extremely cold at winter nights. Bathrooms and showers will need extraction fans. Overall good setup and layout but let down by misty, mouldy and damp building. The curtains are covered in black mould. If the owner spend a bit money on updating the building it will do well.
Definitely reccomend this place!! It is warm and comfortable. Clean and tidy inside and out. Heaps of adventurous walks and scenic places to look at. Close to mountains and only 25 minute drive to closest town. Linda Is a lovely lady and is a great host
This accommodation stay was very inadequate and basic. The environment was dirty with old stains. No pillow/blanket was provided. The environment was uncanny. Heaters are from the 1970s and only work to a limited extent. Very cold over night. No staff member was around. Environment is very poor. Kitchen is dirty and some dishes have not been cleaned properly. Overall stay was extremely uncomfortable and unlikable. DEFINITELY NOT ENJOYABLE.
We've been going there since about 2001 for a mid winter family xmas as we all live throughout the north island and struggle to catch up regularly. Many a memory has been made there. It's not the Ritz Carlton but still a very enjoyable place to go to
Brilliant hosts. Great value for money, and the weather was amazing
Great facilities, kitchen is well appointed, rooms though old are tidy, plenty of bathrooms and a drying room. Lots of parking.
