Story

Makana Confections specialises in gift-quality chocolate and confections, all hand-made and using only the freshest, natural ingredients available.

We are New Zealand owned and operated, with two boutique chocolate factories and three retail stores based in the Bay of Islands, Marlborough Wine Country and most recently Newmarket, Auckland.

Best chocolate shop I’ve been to for a while now, amazing service, super nice lady met and greeted us with a smile. Quick to offer us the daily sample and three others on request, they weren’t stingy about giving out samples at all, we felt very well fed. Just amazing. We tried their; ginger, citrus and cherry chocolates. All were absolutely amazing.
A beautiful shop selling premium chocolate treats. Very expensive but taste amazing. The smell is nice too and you can see bakers baking treats from the shop behind big glass windows. Then even provide some free samples!Food: 5/5
Heard about this place through a work mate in Rotorua. Since my daughter and I were in the north on holiday, we decided to pop into the Keri Keri store. OMG you're greeted with free samples. Don't fall for it because it's addictive and very yummy . Great atmosphere, excellent customer service, helpful staff, and a window view of the chocolate makers . Well worth a visit. Highly recommend

Makana Confections is the best chocolate we have ever tasted. My husband and I went to Chocolate and Coffee Festival at The Cloud Auckland CBD on 9/9/2023. We were so grateful to meet the owner of Makana Confections and had a lovely chat with him. He shared some of his experiences with us and we told him that one day we will visit his chocolate factory in Kerikeri and meet him for a cup of coffee. We highly recommend you to order their products online or visit their factory in Kerikeri.
The best chocolate in Aotearoa!! Absolutely delicious and the staff are so helpful and kind. They even let you taste test if you want before you buy. We brought a few boxes of various chocolate on our way up north. We ended up buying more on our way back home because it was that good! The crunch one was our favorite.
Lovely collection of chocolates. Slightly on expensive side, rather a lot. Good for gifts and personal collection. I love the small free samples. Love the smile staff carry.
