Story

Majors ‘n’ Minors is a North Waikato/Franklin-based music studio. Its director, Lynda McDowall, is a registered children's music specialist and a member of NEWZATS (singing teachers). All studio groups are directed by senior teacher Sarah McDowall who has many years experience both in London and here in New Zealand. She holds a MMus from the Royal College of Music. Now completing its 24th continuous year of teaching, the studio has tutored numerous children and teens and some adults in vocal, musical theatre, instrumental and early childhood programmes. Six teachers are currently working in three studios, offering group and individual tuition to well over 200 students. A number of the solo vocal students are age-group winners/placegetters in the various regional competitions and they have a 100% pass rate in ABRSM (Royal Schools) & Trinity exams. Individual lessons are currently available in Singing, Piano, Cello, Violin, Flute, Recorder, Clarinet and Saxophone. Groups operating are Theory, Ladies Choir, Orchestra, Rock Band and Musical Theatre.

Over the years, our tutors have inspired numerous children and teens in vocal, theatre, instrumental and early childhood programmes. Eight teachers are currently working in seven local studios, offering group and individual tuition to approximately 200 students each week."
