As bleak and unwelcoming as other reviews suggest, but the whole thing is is to be replaced. Make sure you know exactly which point your bus will leave from, or they will leave you behind. Ask someone if you don't know - anyone! Be aware the buses are always in a terrific rush & driver's needs always matter more than passengers. This isn't Asia, you know!nnThe nearest taxi stand is located inconveniently far away near the Plaza. Palmerston North street planners don't care much for pedestrians, despite their propaganda! Also, they almost all have cars.
It's convenient, I like that all busses return there so if you get on the wrong one you're not in too much trouble but the fights there get bad thankfully security is now there and it has little to no shelter from rain, wind or anything and constantly stinks of cigarettes and old rubbish. Crossing to the inner busses sometimes is risky because there's no real safe way to do it after dark
A good point of convergence for all bus services, however, when raining plenty of water still manages to leak through the structure. It would also be nice if there was a park and ride system for bicycles that felt secure.
Parking while cheap needs some work, there is often glass, there are some big holes and uneven ground. However it is close to town so convenient.
