For the best fish and chips made the old-fashioned way. Traditional handmade chips and fresh fish filleted on-site daily. Hot gravy and real mushy peas.

Story

Renowned throughout the Bay. We use only the freshest fish, filleted and prepared on site each day, and we make our own chips from the very best spuds.

All our fish are battered or crumbed and cooked to order, NO PRE-COOKING. It may take just a minute or two longer but it's worth the wait.

Macs produces traditionally cooked fish and chips and offers proper mushy peas.

Best fish and chips I've had in a long time if not the best ever. Absolutely beautiful.

Omg memory lane. Yummiest fish and chips.
Great fresh fried fish - blue cod - with potato wedges. Batter was light and crispy. Very tasty fare fare very greasy.

Do check your order before leaving. We usually have nothing but good to say, but sadly probably due to busy time, what we got sure wasn't what we ordered. They need to have in place a way to ensure customers get what they want. I did call, but felt they didnt want to take any responsibility for this mistake.
This was our local when we lived a couple of clicks away. It seemed to change owners two or three times and the results weren't great two or three times. But today we decided to try again. Crumbed gurnard, crumbed tarakihi and chips. All very tasty and enjoyable. The only downside was a slight fatty after taste at the end.
Cooking oil needs to be changed, food far to oily, not like Mac's used to be, will not be going back. Shaun's in Mahora my goto now.
Taste fantastic. Oysters tasty, very fresh, with light crispy batter perfect. Chips same. Only hitch I ordered 8 oysters, and was at least 2 short, rang shop, and owner offered two free ones now or next order.
Yummiest fish and chips so far!
