Mo (Maurice) and Jo (Jolene) took over the orchard in October 2011 after living in suburbia all their lives, they thought they would try out living rural so they saw this opportunity and grabbed it. Having no prior horticulture experience (other than landscaping and growing veges on a 700 sq metre section) it was a huge learning curve!
The original orchard was once a dairy farm and an approximate total of 40ha was planted back in the mid 80s. The property has since been sub-divided into lifestyle blocks with a small number still harvesting on a commercial basis. The processing facility next door is all that remains of the original buildings and is still in operation.
