Lovely view from here.nGet to read the history.nnFYI: Driving up maybe a quick missed if you do not turn ahead of time. We had to loop around the corner.nnRecommend: the moment you drive up the slope, park on the right. You are 10m walk to the entrance. Do not hesitate like us, ended up going in circles.
Views are stunning from up there, nice piece of history well preserved. you can see Lyttelton port and Diamond harbour. finding parking is challenging and driving up there is also challenging.
Nice to place to sit and soak in the views. Parking might be an issue during the day.
Really interesting historical site with fabulous views back over the harbour and surrounds.nnSite was damaged by the earthquake but had been wonderfully restored with plenty of information placards about the history of the site.nnBut for this one, honestly it’s the view which is worth the hike up the mountain for.nnFabulous spot!!!
Really interesting history! Only the tower had been rebuilt when we visited in 2023, but still impressive. A bit tricky to get to, as no clearly marked parking options. We parked just off the road corner close to the walkway up to the station.
