Really cool cafe with a great atmosphere. My coffee was smooth and tasted delicious. I ordered the huevos rancheros and my nan had the scrambled and eggs. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Mine was full of flavour which worked well together, I loved the “hash” throughout the dish. The tortilla was a let down, just sitting on the bottom which became soggy. My nan loved her meal and rated it highly. Unfortunately, I do have to comment on the staff. I read previous reviews and was conscious of the comments about the staff. I didn’t want to assume our experience would be similar but it was. One of the young baristas was joyful and very welcoming so thank you to him. Yet the others were not quite accomodating and seemed like they were dragging their feet. As someone who works in the hospitality industry as well, I understand but customer service is one of the main priorities of the job. It’s evident that Lyttleton Coffee Co is an exceptional cafe when it comes to the coffee, the food, the views, the atmosphere; however, it’s lacking the accomodating and welcoming customer service.
Interesting shop. . Great views from the back deck. Food was ok. I had the savoury mince. Not a lot of flavour. The thing I didn’t like was the staff ..! Not a smile to be seen and just generally unwelcoming. ! Sadly I won’t be back
This is a fun venue with loads of dining options. It’s very popular so you may need to wait a little bit & the food sells out too! Check the board at the front entrance for what they don’t provide!! No takeaway and no trim milk lol! Just my kind of place! Loads of dietary options and vegan is their speciality. Everything is in Te Reo Māori although it’s all translated. Get ready to line up and try this place out! Great view of the harbour out the back. Ps: don’t bother the chef! Vegetarian options: Vegan is their speciality so you are sorted! Very few meat options in fact. Dietary restrictions: Loads of options here Parking: Hard to find a park here on the weekend especially. Free spots closer are only an hour. Kid-friendliness: They have s as high chair and lots of space Wheelchair accessibility: Easily accessible from the street right through to the back.
It was almost closing time but we were welcome to sit on the deck and have coffees, which was amazing - see the view. Nice and sheltered from the cold wind blowing on the main street. Had flat whites with oat milk and they were delicious and creamy. Great coffee! Slices in the cabinet looked delicious too.
Great location & atmosphere, with dj set up and outdoor balcony. Service seemed formal rather than friendly. Food was delicious but barely a garnish with my mushroom’s & sadly my coffee was luke warm.Food: 4/5
Loved the vibe! The food was really delicious, best I’ve had so far in New Zealand! The eggs benedict with mushrooms was perfect, nothing to complain about. The atmosphere was good, loved the interior and the music. Would definitely recommend!Food: 5/5
The coffee, as always is amazing. This is my regular cafe and has been since I was walking. The food is amazing. I have read previous reviews, where people are saying, "the staff are rude", "we will not come back here", "the food has no flavour", the service was horrible", well how about you grow a pair and put up with it. Lyttelton Coffe Co is and will be the best, if you know the staff, which obviously, the "reviewers" don't, then you would know they are amazing.
Probably a reasonable spot if you like rude service with your coffee… Look I can see why this place gets good reviews for the coffee, fit-out and general ambiance. The interior really is quite well done. The service just generally seems to be flustered initially. We were recommended to come here by the local Information Centre. Now in fairness, we were here as part of a port day with Ovation of the Seas, so there was likely a larger amount of customers than normal. That said, when our coffees were delivered to our table, there was a little confusion about who had which coffee; this was meet with a loud “jesus” muttered under the breath of the staff member. Given how busy the coffee shop was, and the fact there was no chairs, I was leaning against a table which had no chairs at it; this was subsequently met with a “you can’t sit on the table” from a staff member, who then proceeded to bring another couple out and source chairs for them no such offer was made for our family. My whole family felt the whole service aspect was just poor. Note this coffee shop does not do takeaway cups. I would be wary of asking for a coffee in a keep-cup based on my experience… I try and go out of my way to find local shops to review and try out firmly believe in supporting local but I would recommend taking your business to another coffee shop.
Amazing spot. One of the best piccolos I have ever had and excellent bacon and eggs. Atmosphere was spot on. Highly recommend!Food: 5/5
The view is amazing, and the interior is great. But the music is too loud, making it difficult to talk. Annoying flies are everywhere. Mugs, tea pots, water glasses are dirty. Almost all water glasses have lips prints on them. Chips on the mugs. Apart from this, no large size for coffee. You will get a regular size to have in, without being told.
