Very friendly people but for $20 per person, it's dirty... The bins are overflowing, the bathroom full of big clumps of hair and moths and kitchen has food scattered over benches and dirty cups to be fair part of that is other campers not cleaning!. A lot of the positive reviews are from many years ago... Sorry to leave the bad review. Perhaps you might just need to check the facilities a bit more to see if you have dirty campers.
We arrived during the afternoon and there was nobody to book you in, so you put cash in a slot, but that does not provide the code to unlock the shower's door which has a coded lock and barbed wine running around the top!!! I was told by another camper to ring the owners, but that is not possible with my phone having a NZ esim which provides data, but not SMS or phone calls. This is not a problem for DOC camps or other private campsites that use websites or email. I'm not sure why people like this campsite as it is average compared to all the others I have used.
We had the best night here! The owner was so kind and sweet, and the camping ground is also very clean and lovely! We were super happy to be here and would like to come back.
A great basic camping ground we had a big group staying over Christmas and were welcomed warmly our pets were also welcome. The lady caretaker is hard working doing some big hours and making sure everyone had everything they needed. Close to the river walk to town and plenty of space for kids. This may not be the most modern campground but worth 5 stars for its cleaniless, caretaker and has everything you need well done Lumsden Camping Ground you have some long term visitors.
Awesome spot. Busy but one of my favourites.
